Maeby Today We Can Make A Difference
Over the past few months, I have done a lot of self searching in an effort to rediscover who I really am and what I really have a passion for. It hasn’t been easy. I will be the first to admit that I had lost myself in trying to cling far too tightly to a relationship that was far from healthy. It caused me to lie, steal, and push all those that were close to me out of my life. It made me into a person that I didn’t like, and it was difficult to cast that person away and find the person who I really am again.
On the other side of my struggles with an abusive relationship, I have discovered that I have a passion for serving others. I have gotten into volunteering locally and offering my talents and services to those in need. I have become addicted to how enriching this lifestyle of giving can be when you truly dedicate yourself to service.
In addition to discovering this passion, I have always had a desire to travel and see the world. I married these two passions and was able to find a program which would allow me to both travel and serve others through volunteer work. This program, however, does come at a cost. In order to have accommodation, meals and travel arrangements, I will need to save quite a lot of money toward this endeavor.
In March of 2011, I had the opportunity to volunteer in Scotland in exchange for room and board. I think of this time often and I miss the spirit of traveling and experiencing new cultures and meeting new people. It is the memory of these experiences that is really driving me toward making new memories. This time, unlike last time, I want to move forward in a more intelligent way. Unfortunately, being better prepared and more dedicated means needing more funds than when in Scotland.
As I am working as a volunteer currently, you may imagine that my income is quite low. I will be, of course, covering the bulk of this endeavor in any way that I can. I just wanted to reach out to you and give you the opportunity to support me by donating and/or share this with others.
Every dollar is an invaluable contribution to me. Not only will you be helping me to reach my goal, you will be showing your support for me to pursue this incredible opportunity.
To give you a better idea of the program I hope to enroll in, let me take a moment to talk about Agape Adventures. Agape Adventures offers many volunteer programs around the world. The program I am drawn to is one where women are ministering to women. Located in Derbyshire, UK, this program reaches out to women who, like me, need help to live healthy lifestyles. We will be counseling them from a Christian standpoint regarding relationships with others, themselves and the world around them. This program costs $2,100.00 and lasts for one year. The cost of the program includes accommodation, meals, training and several other amazing opportunities. It does not include any travel arrangements or insurance, so I have estimated those costs at around $1,600.00.
My goal is to set forth on this endeavor in early 2014. That gives me several months to save and plan. As previously states, every dollar will be invaluable to me. If you can give fifty cents each month, that would be equally invaluable to me! If you can only share this with others so that they might give or share this with even more people, that would be just as incredible as if you had donated a thousand dollars. Your support and your prayers will be the fuel behind this cause. So, please help me?
